Michelin-starred chef Galton Blackiston, owner and chef patron of Morston Hall Country House Hotel, is as passionate about the countryside as he is about fine food. A keen shooter for over 25 years, Galton knows the importance of protecting his hearing while out in the field.
“I have been shooting for 25 years: hunting and delivering the fresh game to the table is the perfect way to combine two passions,” Galton explains. “In that time, I had always worn bulky ear defenders for the shoots. But a conversation with a friend of mine (one of the best in the shooting game) about his custom hearing protection encouraged me to look at other options. He recommended I give Sound Advice Hearing a call, as he had personally visited a few times for both hearing protection and hearing aids.”
Excessive noise exposure – like the repeated gunfire experienced during shooting – is one of the leading causes of preventable hearing loss. Proper protection is essential, especially for those who shoot regularly. That’s why more and more sportspeople are turning to custom-moulded hearing protection, which offers a far superior level of comfort, clarity, and safety.
Galton visited Sound Advice Hearing after his friend’s recommendation:
“On my visit, the staff were very accommodating and helpful, talking me through the various options of brands and colours available for custom hearing protection. Moulds were taken of my ears to ensure the best fit for my new hearing protection, and the order was placed. A very efficient half hour appointment!”
And the results speak for themselves:
“As they are moulded specifically to me, they are considerably more comfortable and easier to wear than bulky ear defenders. I can keep them in throughout the day and still be able to hear a normal conversation without having to remove them, but I know that they are offering me great protection as well as being easier to manage – and look better too!”
